While many are still at least a few hours away from November 17 and the official launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week, it is already coming to life in Australia and other places where the sun rises on GEW just a little bit earlier than for the rest of us.
GEW Australia is working with over 100 partners this year to bring together a truly engaging program of more than 240 events throughout the week to inspire and engage Australians.
A few of the week’s highlights include:
Entrepreneurship for Australia’s Economic Future: The roles of Industry, Universities and Government
Monday November 17
This event will include an introduction by Per Davidsson the director of the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research, QUT Business School followed by a presentation by Richard Snable on 'Entrepreneurship and Innovation are the biggest drivers of economic and employment growth,' and more.
Australian Business Week
Monday November 17 – Friday November 21
Happening in 12 schools across the country simultaneously, the Australian Business Week program is an intensive one week learning experience that gives students the opportunity to learn about business. For older students, the education program engages ‘emerging adults’ into a virtual world of business for a week. They can taste a real world adult experience and learn vital business, workplace and life skills at the same time.
Encouraging and Developing more Women Leaders Wednesday November 19
A group of over 100 entrepreneurial minded women and men will gather for a breakfast forum in the celebration of women entrepreneurs.
MEGA 2014 Pitch Day Friday November 21
Over the past 3 months, teams of South Australian entrepreneurs have been working with mentors and industry experts to create and refine new concepts for digital products and services. Brilliant ideas have been scrutinized, researched, and tested, and they will soon be ready to present their commercialized product. On November 21, graduates of this year's MEGA program pitch their new digital content and application ideas to a panel of judges and an audience of entrepreneurship enthusiasts.
Sydney Startup Weekend
Friday November 21 – Sunday November 23
Entrepreneurs will come together in Sydney for a weekend long workshop to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
